Psalm 90:11-13King James Version (KJV)
12 So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.
Just recently we celebrated 20 years of marriage. Wow where did the time go. In that twenty years we have changed houses 4 times, have changed jobs several times, have raised 4 kids, seen two go through high school and are now preparing for the last two to go. We have both laughed and cried together. We have seen the passing of our parents and seen the birth of our grandchildren. We have seen a lot and still we have a way to go.
King David in the above scripture is asking God to teach him how to number or pay attention to his days so that he can or will apply, what he learns to his life. David wanted to get wiser by not ignoring the lessons that are available to him on a daily basis. Daily we have the ability to change the course of our lives by the lessons learned and decisions made. In the past twenty years I have learned a lot, but I have also missed opportunities to make a better decision based on what I have learned. My pledge moving forward into the next twenty years of being married to the most beautiful girl in the world, is to learn daily and act in wisdom daily.
I believe the greatest tragedy in any couples’ life is for each partner to remain the same year after year. If we want a richer and more fulfilling marriage, we must get better on purpose. Let’s take on the mindset of King David, teach me to value each day and the lessons they bring. Now that’s a Word!
