Ignoring the Ignorance

Hosea 4:6

My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.

In the origin of words ignore is the root word for ignorance. They both derive from the same Latin word. (don’t I seem smart) Not. They both mean to not know or to be without knowledge, however ignore carries an additional meaning which is to turn away from or pay no attention to.

The above scripture warns Gods people about their lack of knowledge, and further explains the reason for the lack. He says that their lack comes from rejection not lack of presentation. Isn’t it awesome that we serve a God that cares so much for us that he answers our needs before the need arises.

Just as in the above text, most of our marital problems come from rejection not presentation. When we go to any book store there are numerous books and tapes on marriage. Go to amazon and you will find thousands. So the knowledge exists. However just as in the above text our refusal to ingest and use the knowledge around us, is costing us our present peace and the future peace of our children.

Its ok to be ignorant however it’s not ok to stay that way. We don’t get better by ignoring the information around us and it doesn’t make us seem smarter. What it does, is proves how deep our ignorance really is. Because you turn your back on knowledge you and those connected to you suffer. If you won’t seek out the knowledge for your own peace, seek it out for that of your children and friends, and maybe in your quest, you will get better and those around you also. Now That’s A Word!
