2 Corinthians 9:10 says,
“Now he that ministereth seed to the sower both minister bread for your food, and multiply your seed sown, and increase the fruits of your righteousness;”
The above verse gives insight into the scale in which God uses to bless and provide for his people. He says I give seed to the sower, the one who is focused on getting the seed out of his hand and into good ground, he gets more seed. The one however that is focused on his own needs and wants, gets his needs met however, he gets what does not have the ability to reproduce. He gets fed but is locked out of a system that will perpetually meet his needs and the needs of others.
The farmer that is focused on bread will eat for a day, but the farmer who is focused on the seed and getting it where it can reproduce, will eat forever, no matter the outward conditions. Another point of interest is the shelf life of bread over the shelf life of seed. Bread will mold and become uneatable however seed can sit on the shelf for months or years and when put in the right environment, will begin to grow and reproduce.
God desires us to be sowers, not for our benefit but for the benefit others. When we sow, we reap a harvest for ourselves and those connected to us.
