Years to Build, A Day to Destroy.

Recently not far from my home they began to demolish a White Castle hamburger shop. In one day they had the area surrounded by a chain-link fence and signs posted. The next day they had demolished the entire building and had most of the rubble removed. This White Castle that had stood for better than 20 years was gone in a day. Several days after the land had been cleared, they began construction on the new White Castle, that will take the place of the old one.
If you know anything about construction, or how things are built today, we can agree that things are not built as well today as they were 20, 30, 50, or maybe even 100 years ago. The materials are not of the same quality, and the builders are not the craftsman that their predecessors were, one could say that the building that stood for 20 years will be replaced with an inferior copy.
Building a good marriage is hard, unselfish work. It is work that at times seems to be never ending. But it is also work that is immensely rewarding. Not long ago I met a couple that had been married over 30 years, in the process of a divorce. They talked about how they had grown apart and that they wanted different things. This is a shame and all too common in our society. They had built something for 30 years and in a few months, had come to the conclusion that divorce or destruction was the only option. Just recently it was announced that a famous TV couple, that has a show, where they buy and flip houses, was getting a divorce and had begun to see other people. They claim that the relationship began to dissolve six months ago, over a heated argument. It seems such a tragedy that in six months we can go from a loving family, to seeing other people and headed for divorce.
If allowed to give some advice to a person or persons struggle in their marriage, it would be “Never give up, Never give in, and Never let go!
James 1:12English Standard Version (ESV)
12 Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love him.
