And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the
renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and
acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
If we are not careful, we will let what’s going on in the world cause
the spirit of fear, unbelief, distraction, depression etc. to come
upon us. The news and headlines are filled with crime, natural
disasters, disease and so many other things to fill our hearts and
minds with despair. If the happenings haven’t touched your family
directly, it has touched someone that you know.
In order to not be crippled by the happenings in the world, we must
remember that the word of God has already fore told of these and the
many things to come so that in Him we may have peace. In this world we
will have trouble but take heart knowing that He has already overcome
In elementary school, the teacher would begin each Monday by passing
out spelling words for an upcoming test on Friday. Throughout the
week, we would have an assignment to familiarize ourselves with the
spelling words by using them in a sentence, looking the words up in
the dictionary for the definition, word search and various other tasks
in order to prepare us for the upcoming test. The teacher had taken
God’s principal through the word of God and utilized it to make us the
students successful for the test. God is always preparing us for
things to come, in subtle and also obvious ways. Renewing our minds
allows us to live in a world where trouble is but not be affected or
conformed to the way it is. Now That’s a Word!
